Description
Flavor
This honey has a delicate maple syrup flavor derived from the Tulip Poplar Tree in addition to other flowers in bloom at the time before we harvested this honey. Making this a delicious topping on pancakes and waffles, a natural sweetener for tea or coffee, or a spoonful for as a natural remedy.
Color
This honey has a darker caramelized color thanks to the predominant Tulip Poplar Nectar.
Location
Our Dahlonega hives are located within 1 mile flying distance of Red Oak Lavender Farms in Dahlonega, GA. In addition, these hives are situated around farms and natural woods containing Tulip Poplar and Sourwood trees in addition to a whole variety of wildflowers and weeds giving our honey a unique flavor that comes from all these natural surroundings.
Our Honey
Local Raw Honey has a unique taste and flavor depending on the place and time it’s harvested and extracted. Honey Bees often travel great distances in search of delicious nectar. When they find it, they return back to their hive, and with a wiggle dance they let all their sisters know where to find that source of nectar and pollen. These hard working ladies will visit over 2 million flowers just to produce one pound of this delicious golden elixir.
We extract our honey on a monthly basis during the honey season to capture the unique flavors and pollen derived from the flowers that were in bloom during that time period. We first filter our honey down to 600 micron during first extraction to remove larger pieces of beeswax and then down to 400 micron before pouring our honey into their glass jars. Filtering at 400 microns permits small amounts of natural pollen to be introduced into our honey to help prepare your body for seasonal allergies. We also never pasteurize our honey to ensure we don’t kill off the beneficial enzymes that makes raw honey great for natural remedies.
